Six hours from the terminal, usually via Habarana and Polonnaruwa. The northern route is the better of the two, and it means the Cultural Triangle is on the way rather than a detour.

May to September. The east coast is dry and calm through those months while the west and south are under monsoon, so it is the sensible beach option for a European summer trip.
Is Pasikuda good for children?
It is among the best beaches on the island for young children — the bay is reef-sheltered, the water is shallow for a long way out, and there is very little surf. That is its main draw.
