Is Talpe good for swimming?
The open shore is rocky and exposed in places, but there is a natural tidal rock pool that is safe when the sea is not, and sandy stretches nearby at Dalawella and Unawatuna. Conditions change with the season; May to September brings rough water.
What is there to do in Talpe?
Very little in Talpe itself, which is the appeal. Galle Fort is fifteen minutes, Unawatuna ten, Koggala lake twenty, and the whole south coast is within an hour. It is a base rather than a destination.
Is Talpe or Unawatuna better?
Talpe for villas, quiet and space; Unawatuna for a sheltered swimming bay, restaurants and a livelier scene. They are ten minutes apart, so many guests stay in Talpe and eat in Unawatuna.
