The route

Airport to Habaraduwa: what to expect

Two and a quarter hours from the terminal via the Southern Expressway. Habaraduwa sits between Koggala lake and the ocean, on a stretch of coast that has stayed noticeably quieter than Unawatuna or Mirissa.

The beach here is long and largely undeveloped, backed by palms rather than a road. Koggala lake and its islands are five minutes inland, the Martin Wickramasinghe folk museum is in the village, and Galle Fort is twenty minutes west. It suits guests who want the south coast without the crowd and do not mind a tuk-tuk to dinner.

Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board, helps with luggage and SIM cards, and the price agreed on WhatsApp is final — fuel, tolls and parking are all inside it. Pay the driver on arrival in LKR, USD, EUR or GBP.
