Generally yes. When Yala's Block 1 shuts for around six weeks from 1 September, Lunugamvehera stays open and takes some of that traffic. Confirm the dates with us.
What will I see?
Elephants moving between Yala and Udawalawe, plus deer, buffalo and good birdlife on the reservoir. Leopards are present but rarely seen.
Is it better than Yala?
Not for sightings. It is better for quiet, and it is the sensible substitute during the Yala closure.
