If you want quiet, yes. Waikkal is river-and-lagoon rather than beach-strip, the hotels are more spread out, and it is only fifteen minutes further from the terminal. Negombo has more restaurants and a livelier evening; Waikkal has almost none, which is the point.
How far is Waikkal from the airport?
