Induruwa sits between Bentota and Kosgoda on a long, straight beach backed by coconut palms. It is noticeably emptier than Bentota a few minutes north, with a handful of hotels and villas and no strip at all.

Several species nest along this coast and hatcheries operate in the village and at Kosgoda next door — standards vary a great deal, and the better ones release hatchlings within a day or two rather than keeping them in tanks for photographs. Considerably. Bentota has the resorts, the water sports and the river; Induruwa is a long beach with a few hotels and almost no development behind it. It is ten minutes away if you want the facilities.
Can you see turtles at Induruwa?
Several species nest on this stretch of coast, and hatcheries in the village and at Kosgoda take visitors. Choose carefully — some keep hatchlings in tanks far longer than is good for them.
How long is the drive from the airport?
About an hour and a half on the Southern Expressway, bypassing Colombo. It is one of the quickest routes from arrivals to a genuinely quiet beach.
